This edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH is dedicated to all of my headz who grew up on Golden Era Hip Hop. We all know the East produced LEGENDS in Hip Hop and I play them regularly on Vinyl Vybz. But this time I want to show love to the left coast, who as a matter of fact, produced legends of their own.
Although I LOVE West Coast Hip Hop, I’m man enough to admit that I don’t show that genre of music enough love on Vinyl Vybz. So to make amends for that oversight, I dedicated this entire show to West Coast Hip Hop. GOLDEN era West Coast Hip Hop to be exact (with the exception of 1 or 2 records).
So sit back, relax and take this trip down memory lane with me to a land where the sun sets.
Throw those W’s up!

On this edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH I had the pleasure of interviewing Chaundon. He opened up 100% in this no holds barred interview. He discussed everything from his beginnings as an up and coming rapper & MC, to his music as part of the Justice League and as a part of the HOJ. Chaundon also talked about his feelings about the music game, 9th Wonder’s deflection from Little Brother ,as well as, Little Brothers final album and ultimate break up.
Music wasn’t the only thing Chaundon discussed with me. He also described in detail the car accident that himself, Rapper Big Pooh, Jozeemo, Big Dho, & Joe Scudda were unfortunately apart of. We even talked about cooking as well! You gotta hear this interview! It’s DOPE! TRUST

April is one of my favorite months of the year? Why? Because springtime is in full gear. I love how the beautiful weather presents more opportunities to fellowship outdoors. Not only that, but April is the month that I was born which is truly a blessing in itself for me. It’s the good life indeed!
I wanted to give MY representation of the “good life” with this show. So I featured a lot of feel good music that I can envision people blasting outdoors, as well as, music with a message, purpose, & meaning. In other cases I just played some straight up dope Hip Hop that will transport you back to the golden era.
So enjoy and thank you for your continued love and support!

Detroit has a storied music scene in Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Rock & Roll, Pop, Techno, and of course Soul and R&B. Detroit has a robust Hip Hop scene as well that features skilled MC’s and producers. So for this edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH I showcased some of my personal favorite MC’s reppin’ the D and a few producers out of Detroit as well that've blessed artists outside of the Motor City. I ended the show with a few records that represent the soulful side of Detroit while setting aside the last song for a living legend.
So if you’re from Detroit or a fan of Detroit music than this show is for you! TURN IT UP!!!

Timothy Mosley b.k.a Timbaland is an innovator when it comes to Hip Hop and music as a whole. Since the early 90’s he’s been a trendsetter in music by introducing a sound that has never been heard before. His trademark drum patterns birthed a lot of biters but no one has ever been able to TRULY replicate his sound. This show brings his incredible production style to the forefront by featuring music produced by Timbaland exclusively.
I’ve been doing a lot of tributes, as of late, for artists who’ve recently passed away. So I thought it would be a nice change of pace to “give flowers to an artist while they can smell them”. This show features A LOT of classics produced by Timbaland and a few records that may or may not be as known but are just as DOPE.
So sit back, relax, and vibe to this Timbaland DOPENESS. “Say whaaat”

Our wedding cakes (courtesy of Vanille Patisserie)
It brings me a great sense of pride knowing that this month my wife & I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. It is TRULY a blessing! In honor of our wedding anniversary we thought that it would be dope to share the music that we personally selected to be played during our wedding reception. We carefully planned and thought out this playlist and I was very proud of the outcome. The playlist not only showed our mutual love of music, but every song had sentimental value. From the 1st song "Affinity", which was the inspiration behind the engraving inside my wedding band. *My wife surprised me by engraving "Infinite Affinity"*. All the way down to the last song "Who Would I Be", which was the song that we used for our 1st dance as Mr. & Mrs. HasH.
This is 2 hours of INCREDIBLE music that I guarantee is not your average wedding reception playlist. No drops, no talking intermissions...just STRAIGHT music. I hope our wedding reception music evokes the same spirit of peace, unity, & love that it does for my wife & I. Thanx for listening...
PEACE

On this edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH I played a mixture of Jazz, Soul and Hip Hop for the 1st half of the show. I dedicated the remainder of the show to Whitney Houston, a legend with an angelic voice that we lost far too soon at the young age of 48.
I wanted to do my part as a DJ AND fan to honor Whitney Houston the best way I know how, by playing her CLASSICS. And she had A LOT of classics. Too many in fact for one show. So I played some of my favorites which I hope are some of yours as well.
Rest in peace Whitney Houston and thank you for all of the years that you’ve blessed us with your God given talent.

Peace and blessings! Welcome to volume TWO of my 90’s Soul and R&B special on Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH! On this edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH I had the honor and pleasure of choppin’ it up with Brown Audio (of The BeatStreet Club) consisting of brothers Sean Ace (@Sean_Ace) & Cya (@im_Cya) who’ve been putting in work for years in the Chicago Hip Hop scene. Not only did I interview them but I showcased a timeline of their DOPE brand of Hip Hop ranging from their older material (which is timeless in my opinion) leading up to their current music that can mostly be found on http://brownaudio.bandcamp.com/ , http://cyamusic.bandcamp.com/ , http://sean-ace.bandcamp.com/ , & http://dame-o.bandcamp.com/ respectively.
I sprinkled in some more music as well including a few oldies but goodies from Common Sense and new music from my Chicago brethren The Primeridian (prod. by Tall Black Guy), Vice Verse and Omen along with a few other BANGAS from outside of my hometown.
Thank you for your support and Happy New Years (2012)!

Peace and blessings fellow music headz! Welcome to the 1st edition of what I call Vinyl Vybz “is for the Children”. That’s 2 hours of Hip Hop and Soul music from children ONLY! I recently read an article about ODB & I thought about how he rushed the stage at the Grammys after the Wu-Tang Clan didn’t win. He infamously gave a speech which included him declaring that “Wu-Tang is for the children”. Thus the name of this show!
I played some obvious Hip Hop bangas from child MC’s like Chi-Ali, Illegal, ABC, & Shyheim. And since it’s my goal on Vinyl Vybz to not just play obvious music but also educate you on some DOPE music that may not be known, I played some heat from artists like A+, 2 Low, Whooliganz, & Quo to name a few. I also played a few CLASSIC Soul/R&B songs from some child crooners that you haven’t heard in a MINUTE!
So listen to how these shorties got BUSY!!! Most of them sound just as dope as their adult counterparts. TRUST!
PEACE!

Slum Village- World Full Of Sadness (Unreleased)
I don't think I'll forget that Saturday morning (8/1/09) when I got a text from my boy Gq Tha Teacha informing me that Baatin of Slum Village had passed away. I was in shock and very disturbed. I was hoping that it was just some kind of crazy rumor. But as I started getting more and more phone calls and texts about Baatin throughout the next hour I realized that this was sadly true. I can't front. The news of Baatin's passing messed me up. The same way that other Slum Village member Jay Dee aka J-Dilla upset me. Slum Village was and still is one of my favorite Hip Hop groups.
I'll never forget seeing Slum Village perform live when they opened up for Erykah Badu. The light man played Baatin by only having two spotlights. One for T3 and the other for Elzhi of Slum Village only. Baatin had to literally perform behind T3 and Elzhi or so close to them that he was almost touching them to get some of that spotlight. But he didn't miss a beat. Baatin was the highlight of the show for me. Exceeding Erykah Badu herself in my opinion. The passion Baatin exhibited in his rhymes and the showmanship he showed on stage with his poppin and robotic movements to the hard hitting J-Dilla production was second to none.
So it was only right that I took the time to honor and pay homage to the man Baatin Rasul Wasi on my show. Once Baatin passed away, alot of DJ's did tributes to him. And rightfully so. My goal was to bring something new to the host of Baatin tributes and give it to you "Vinyl Vybz" style!!! My Baatin tribute is full of Slum Village classics, unreleased songs, and Baatin solos. Not to mention an "Old to the New" segment where I play a portion of an original sample and then play the Hip Hop song that sampled from it, like I always do on Vinyl Vybz.
I admit that this was one of my favorite shows. I hope I did Baatin and Dilla proud. Please feel free to share this show with EVERY Slum Village fan you know and anybody that's not familiar with Slum Village because I think they will enjoy SV's music as well. Detroit stand up!!!

Welcome to my Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH (Guru Tribute)! I know there are several Guru tributes out there, and rightfully so. Guru deserves ALL the accolades. However, I wouldn’t feel comfortable calling myself a DJ and die-hard Guru / Gang Starr fan if I didn’t come with my own Guru tribute. Now the size of Gurus’ catalog of dope music is INSANE, which made it impossible to fit all of his music into this show. But hopefully I did Guru and his legacy justice with the songs I’ve selected for this tribute, while at the same time featuring some Gang Starr and Guru BANGAS that you may not be familiar with. For example, the horn mix to Gang Starrs’ "DWYCK", "Now You’re Mine" (originally off the White Men Can’t Jump / Rap soundtrack) and the 12" white label "Doe In Advance".
I also featured some songs from Jazzmatazz, Gurus’ solo project , where he worked with jazz legends to AMAZING results! And of course the Old to the New was in FULL effect! I featured "The ? Remainz" & "Mass Appeal" during this segment that not only showed Gurus’ partner , DJ Premier , genius on the boards but also showed the special chemistry that Guru and Preemo had which could NEVER be matched.

I had A LOT of fun with this show. I had the honor of talking to the one and only soulstress Iman Williams as well as producer extraordinaire BusCrates 16 Bit Ensemble. Prepare yourself for 2 hours of music from female artists EXCLUSIVELY! Now I said this on Volume I of my Ladies 1st show and my stance remains the same. There isn’t enough female representation of Hip Hop on the radio. Some may say it's because there isn’t a lot of female MC’s making noise today but I beg to differ. Props to other DJ’s, shows, and programs like “My Mic Sounds Nice” who contribute in keeping the female MC torch burning. Word up!
For this show my goal was to give a brief timeline of female MC’s contributions to the Hip Hop game. I played music from the 80’s, 90’s & the present from the likes of Lauryn Hill, Bahamadia, MC Lyte, Jean Grae, & Queen Latifah to name a few. But you know how I get down on Vinyl Vybz so I never play just the obvious choices. I want to educate and expose you all to DOPE music EVERY week that you may not be familiar with, so I made sure I included some more obscure records from the likes of N-Tyce, Champ MC, Finesse & Synquis, etc. I even did something I didn’t do on the 1st volume, and that's play a few bangas for my soul heads!
Thank you everyone for checking out Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH on www.playvybz.com and for checking out Ladies 1st (Volume I). It’s because of YOU that I did this 2nd volume. Free free to share this link to all of your fellow music heads. It’s dopeness guaranteed!!!

This show aired live from midnight-2:00am London time on 5/20/09 on www.playvybz.com. This was the 1st and only show that I've been blessed to do live so far in London and I was amped! You could tell all in my voice! This was the 5th Vinyl Vybz show I had every done so my apologies for not being as "comfortable" on the mic as I am now. Not to mention I was VERY excited to be in London to do Vinyl Vybz Live and then perform at the Westbury with the rest of the Temporary Residents the following day. My adrenaline was pumping!!!
My apparent lack of skills on the mic compared to current shows aside, this show was INCREDIBLE! The music was DOPE but most importantly I was surrounded by family in the studio. Check out an appearance by the admiral of The Temporary Residents, DJ Johnny Rebel, and a SPECIAL performance by Lyrickal (the guy whose drop I play during every Old to the New segment). Lyrickal performed a 10 minute freestyle of rapping, singing, vocal scratches & instrumentation. And the scary part is that this is only a FRACTION of what this man is capable of. Trust me you DON'T want to miss this!!!

Peace and blessings! Welcome to another 2 hours of DOPENESS on Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH! I had a lot of fun with this show. The bulk of this show features independent artists on the scene whose music is INCREDIBLE. These artists may or may not be known to you but by the end of this show you’ll be researching for more of their music. It’s that dope…GUARANTEED. I also sprinkled in a few classics for good measure. WORD.
Next show, I’ll be doing a tribute for the late, great Nick Ashford. Along with his wife Valerie Simpson, Nick Ashford has DECADES of hits under his built as a gifted songwriter AND artist in his own right. So for the entire show I’ll be playing Ashford and Simpson classics, songs that they’ve written (which are also CLASSICS), and some songs that sampled from Ashford and Simpson. You’ll see 1st hand that this legendary duo were a force to reckon with YEARS before “Solid”. The music industry would NOT be the same without Ashford and Simpson! RESPECT!

Peace and blessings! So much to my surprise, I still get requests to do a podcast of this show that's over 2 years old. That's LOVE! So here it is! This is the "Summer Edition" of Vinyl Vybz that aired on www.playvybz.com on June 30th 2009. It features 2 hours of summer themed Hip Hop and Soul, as well as, music that has that summer vibe, in my opinion. Summer is almost over but this show is guaranteed to keep you in a summer mood. It will also have you reminiscing of past summers!
FYI. I was hesitant to post this show because this (Summer Edition) show isn't as "polished" as my current Vinyl Vybz shows. So I apologize in advance for that and for the CRAZY long intermissions! SMH lol But this was my 10th show so I was still getting use to the mic. I'm use to speaking with my hands.
The important thing is that the music is still of the HIGHEST quality! WORD.
Shouts to my girl Angie for pushing me to start posting these old shows. It's dope seeing how I started, where I'm at now, and getting an idea of how SICK Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH will be in the future.

In my opinion, there isn't enough female representation of Hip Hop on the radio. That's why on this special "Ladies 1st Edition" of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH, I put the spotlight on female MC's. It's long overdue, wouldn't you agree? This is TWO hours of Hip Hop from female MC's ONLY! Not too many DJ's are doing that. Honestly, I don't know ANY other DJ's that are doing that.
This is history in the making on Vinyl Vybz. Enjoy and feel free to share this with any and EVERYONE you know who misses the good ole days when hearing female MC's on the radio wasn't a rarity as (sadly) it is now.
PEACE!

Welcome to a special edition of Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH where I paid tribute to musical icon Gil Scott-Heron. This show is bittersweet, due to the fact that Gil Scott-Heron has passed away. But I wanted to take a moment to celebrate his work that’s influenced a massive amount of people for over 4 decades! I felt it’s my duty as a DJ to deliver a show paying homage to this legendary Soul, Jazz, & Spoken Word artist by playing some his finest work. While at the same time cookin up a DOPE show that you’ve come to expect on Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH.
I began the show with a Roots melody featuring some songs that I could envision Gil Scott-Heron collaborating on. Either through his spoken word or distinct singing voice. Then I played new music from the likes of Muhsinah, Skyzoo, Eric Roberson, DiViNe SeVeN, Elzhi & MORE. Not to mention an “Old to the New” featuring Da Youngsta’s and Das Efx rockin over the same sample.
The last hour is dedicated to Gil Scott-Heron! His body of work is MASSIVE so I picked a few of my personal favorites to play, along with the Hip Hop records that sampled from it. DOPENESS!!! I invite you to still check me out next Tuesday and EVERY Tuesday from 6-8pm CST on www.playvybz.com. And feel free to share this podcast!!! Thank you EVERYONE for all of your love and support when it comes to Vinyl Vybz with DJ HasH! It means more than you know! TRUST.
